Intermission: Phlogistics

April 21, 2013

I am… ablaze.

Screaming forth at galactic speed
in unbending streams,
heedless –

I explode from the places where pebbles,
dropped into the universe,
have crushed it into bright flame.

Silent, I ripple out into the dark:
strike at it,
fill it,
colour it,
shadow it,
heat it,
people it,
make it dance with life.

A burning scent rises,
An acrid, waxy, smoking-hot smell,
tasting like danger.

Untouchable, particulate,
more straight than any legendary arrow,
only time slows me down.

Something calls:
Fire spirits, light the way.

To guide – or to blind.

I care not.
It is all the same.
