Sticks and yarn

April 8, 2012

Scrap yarn Ojo de Dios (God's eye)

This isn’t what I usually do with sticks and yarn, but then these weren’t my usual kind of sticks. And since the twigs were garden trimmings and the yarn was from my scrap ball, the whole project cost essentially nothing. 🙂

The weaving itself is a doddle. Use the end of the yarn to tie the sticks into a cross and then just wrap the yarn around each stick in turn, always in the same direction – over, back under, back over and onto the next stick – over, back under, back over and onto the next stick – over, back under, back over and onto the next stick – repeat endlessly.

I attached it to the wall with just a wee nail (the panel pin kind) on each side, one for each arm.
